Feels almost like fall, except today when it was in the high 80s. My neighbors Anne and Jim have spent all weekend preserving foods, including slicing apples for pies and juicing apples and oranges. She sent out a picture of her freezer and I have decided I will go there for the zombie apocalypse!
Our CSA box from Fifth Crow Farms contained Turnips, Peppers, Cherry tomatoes, Salad mix, Red cabbage, Sunrise apples, Chard, and Sarah’s Choice melons. Here is my menu plan for the week of September 9:
Sunday: Afternoon birthday party
Monday: Pan-fried Sand Dabs, sautéed chard, quinoa, melon
Tuesday: Warm Red Cabbage Salad with Sweet Potatoes, leftover quinoa
Wednesday: Heavy finger foods for evening board meeting
Thursday: Back to School Night
Friday: Pasta party with the basketball team
P.S. The cake above was made by a friend for her daughter’s 6th birthday. Super cute, pig in a mud!
